Being in Los Angeles has made me feel so comfortable and excited to finally DRESS UP. As much as I like the laid back hipster style of San Francisco (actually, to be frank I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed with it), I feel like I am totally falling in love with the fashion trends here.
I used to be very apprehensive to wear heels because I am already 5’9, but now I am ecstatic to be walking around a restaurant or bar as a six foot tall woman. I think a lot of that has come with age and more confidence, but everyone here wears booties, pumps, or stilettos and I am in awe. Also, I need to be more secure about my legs. They are long so I’ll take advantage of that and show the bad boys off more!
I’ve been really drawn to solid colors recently, and taking the approach of less is more. I have transitioned from a love of large statement necklaces to more delicate and simple ones, but I love accessorizing with pops of color in shoes, earrings, and even crazy nail polish. Layering necklaces is my new obsession. The simplicity to me is really sexy, and I do not consider not wearing crazy patterns or having multiple textures boring. I think it gives you even more of a challenge to stand out!
I can’t take credit for the black dress on the left because all of that is my friend Paige’s (all designer and way too expensive for me), but the middle and right are all me!
Middle: Top (Buffalo Exhange, $5.00) Skirt (Top Shop, $40.00), Shoes (I stole them from a play I was in) and Earrings (Forever 21, $6.00)
Right: American Apparel top and bottom, and Steve Madden Shoes
